West Concord Advisory Committee - Volunteers Needed
Now that members of the West Concord Task Force have completed their master planning marathon, it’s time to pass the baton to the West Concord Advisory Committee.

In early September, the Planning Board (at the request of the Board of Selectmen) approved the charge for a West Concord Advisory Committee (WCAC) as a subcommittee of the Planning Board. The Planning Board anticipates that the WCAC will have an advisory role to the Planning Board, and hopefully others, with an active focus on West Concord.  The Planning Board expects members of the Advisory Committee to promote the vision contained in the 2010 West Concord Master Plan, along with the West Concord Design Guidelines, and Town sustainability initiatives, when development is proposed in West Concord and to be a focal point for soliciting input from citizens, business operators, and property owners as appropriate.

The Planning Board is seeking seven Concord-resident volunteers to fill the seven member roster of the WCAC. There are also two non-voting associate member positions to be filled. At least three voting members are required to have a connection to West Concord either as a resident, property owner, local business operator, or tenant. Additionally, the Planning Board hopes to identify committee members who bring a mix of qualifications, skills or expertise; some of which include: a working familiarity with the Zoning Bylaw and other Town regulations, specific skills (such as architecture, planning, site design, engineering, environment and natural resources, sustainability or commercial development) or general skills (such as community outreach, meeting management or communications).

If you are ready to accept the baton and want to help guide the future of West Concord, please fill out a volunteer card (a “green” card) at the Town House. For more information call the Planning Division at 978-318-3290.
