2011 DOG LICENSES

2011 Dog Licenses, which are effective January 1 through December 31, 2011, will be available at the Town Clerk’s Office beginning at 10:00 am on Thursday, December 9th.   Tag numbers will be distributed on a first come, first served basis.   A license may be obtained in person at the Town House on Mondays through Fridays, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, or Thursdays until 6:00 pm.  Licenses may also be obtained by mail or online.

A renewal form will be sent in the mail with the 2011 Census (last week of December), or you can obtain your license early by renewing online at the Town’s Website—www.concordma.gov.  Click “Online Payments” on the website’s front page, and proceed from there.   Or send us your name and address, your dog’s name, breed and gender, a check for $15 payable to the Town of Concord, and a self-addressed, stamped envelope.  Mail to:  Town Clerk, P.O. Box 535, Concord, MA 01742.   A current rabies vaccination is required.  If your dog has been licensed in Concord in the past, or if you use a local veterinarian, then we most likely have the rabies certificate on file, so it is not necessary to send that to us.  If your dog has been vaccinated within the past four weeks we may not have it on file yet, so send us a copy of the vaccination certificate (which will be returned to you with the license).  If you did not license your dog in the year 2010 and your dog was over six months of age last year, then you will be required to purchase a 2010 license as well as a 2011 license.

State law requires all dogs over six months of age to be licensed and tagged.  Dogs that are not licensed by March 31 each year are subject to a fine of up to $50.  The dog officer routinely picks up stray and unlicensed dogs, so please do your dog a favor by buying a license and attaching the tag to the dog’s collar.  The deadline for licensing in order to avoid a $25 late fee is March 31.  Call the Concord Town Clerk’s Office if you have any questions or to verify rabies status – 978-318-3080 or email us at townclerk@concordma.gov.
