Special Election - June 8

SPECIAL ELECTION CALLED--VOTER REGISTRATION DEADLINE

The Board of Selectmen has called a Special Election for Tuesday, June 8th to consider a Proposition 2½ Debt Exclusion ballot question.  Polls will be open on Election Day from 7:00 am to 8:00 pm.  The deadline for registering to vote in this election is Wednesday, May 19th at 8:00 pm.  Those who have not previously registered to vote at their current address in Concord must register by May 19th in order to vote in this election.

The Town Clerk’s Office will be open for voter registration until 8:00 pm on Wednesday, May 19th.  You may also call the Town Clerk’s Office at 978-318-3080 to request a mail-in registration form.  Mail-in registrations must be postmarked by May 19th.

The subject of the ballot question is the funding of a feasibility study and schematic design for Concord-Carlisle High School, as approved under Article 28 of the 2010 Annual Town Meeting.  The text of the ballot question is available at the Town’s Website – www.concordma.gov.

Absentee ballots will be available to those who cannot vote at the polls due to: 1) absence from Concord during polling hours; 2) physical disability; or 3) religious belief.  The voter or a family member must submit an application in writing by 12:00 noon on June 7th.  Absentee ballots can be cast in person at the Town Clerk’s Office, or sent via U.S. Mail to the voter.  Ballots may not leave the Town House except via U.S. mail.  Ballots are expected to be available around May 20th – call the Office to confirm the availability of ballots if you are coming to vote by absentee ballot.  Returned absentee ballots must be received in the Town Clerk’s office before the polls close on Election day – please allow ample time if the ballot is to be mailed.

As always, feel free to contact the Town Clerk's office at 978-318-3080 or via email at townclerk@concordma.gov if we can be of any assistance.
