DOG LICENSE DEADLINE & RABIES CLINIC
The deadline for licensing dogs in Concord in 2010 is fast approaching. All dogs over the age of six months must be licensed annually in each calendar year. March 31st is last day to license your dog without paying a $25 late fee. Licensing may be done in person at the Town House during business hours (Monday-Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, and Thursdays 8:30 am to 6:00 pm); online at our website www.concordma.gov with an automatic deduction from your checking account or with
a MasterCard or Discover Card; or by mail by sending your dog’s information, a $15 check and a SASE to: Town Clerk, P.O. Box 535, Concord, MA 01742. If your dog’s rabies information is up-to-date, or if you use a local veterinarian, then you will not need to provide proof of rabies vaccination, since we most likely have it in our files. If in doubt, please contact our office first via email at firstname.lastname@example.org or by phone at 978-318-3080.
The Board of Health is sponsoring a free rabies clinic for cats and licensed dogs residing in Concord on Saturday, March 20 at the Public Works Garage on Keyes Road (behind Rite-Aid Pharmacy). Dogs may be brought for vaccination between 1:00 pm and 1:45 pm. Cats may be brought between 1:45 pm and 2:30 pm. If you have already licensed your dog, please bring the yellow-colored license with you to the clinic. If you have not yet obtained your 2010 dog license, you may do so at the Town Clerk’s Office prior to the clinic, or you may obtain one at the clinic for $15.00. Licenses will be available for sale at the rabies clinic from 1:00 pm to 2:30 pm at the Public Works Building on Keyes Road. Please note that although licenses will
be available for the entire time, dogs requiring vaccination should be brought only between 1:00 pm and 1:45 pm. Cats should be brought between 1:45 pm and 2:30 pm. All dogs must be on a leash and under the control of an adult. All cats must be in a cat carrier.
State law requires all dogs over six months of age to be licensed and tagged. Dogs that are not licensed by April 1 each year are subject to a fine of up to $50. The dog officer routinely picks up stray and unlicensed dogs, so please do your dog a favor by buying a license and attaching the tag to the dog’s collar. Contact the Concord Town Clerk’s Office if you have any questions.
