Representative Cory Atkins (D-Concord) is pleased to announce on Tuesday, December 1, 2009 from 7:00 P.M. to 8:30 P.M. at the Harvey Wheeler Community Center in West Concord State Representative Harold P. Naughton, Jr., House Chairman of the Joint Committee on Veterans and Federal Affairs will participate in a Military Family Support Group discussion entitled What You Need to Know: Benefits for Returning OIF/OEF Soldiers. Residents from Acton, Carlisle, Chelmsford, Concord, Maynard and Sudbury are encouraged to attend.
“It is an honor to welcome Chairman Naughton to Concord,” said Atkins. “We look forward to giving veterans and their loved ones a chance to ask specific questions and share their experiences.”
Chairman Naughton is in the United States Army Reserve. He volunteered for a tour of active duty and was deployed from September 2005 to May 2006 during which time he served in Kuwait and Baghdad, Iraq. Chairman Naughton represents the 12th Worcester District including Northborough, Clinton, Boylston, Sterling and Lancaster. Previously, he served on the House Committee on Ways and Means and the Joint Committee on the Judiciary, and he was the Vice-Chair of the Joint Committee on Public Safety and Homeland Security. The Chairman and his wife Ellen (Murphy) reside in Clinton with their four children, Harrison, Tiernan, Clare and Eamon.
The Military Family Support Group (MFSG) offers networking, education and support to extended families and friends facing deployment of a loved one or a veteran transitioning back to civilian life. They have no geographic boundaries or political or religious affiliations.
