Community Conservation Challenge Extension
Deadline Extended for the Community Conservation Challenge

The deadline for joining the Community Conservation Challenge has been extended to Friday, May 9. The Community Conservation Challenge is an outreach campaign sponsored by Concord Public Works (CPW) and the Massachusetts Environmental Trust that links water conservation with fundraising by local non-profit organizations

The Community Conservation Challenge provides an incentive to water customers to save water. Participating water customers that use less water this summer than they have the previous three summers will earn funds for local organizations that they care about.  CPW will help participants learn how to become more water-efficient by offering workshops, water use audits, toilet replacement rebates and more. If successful at reducing their water use, groups can earn up to $1,000.
All Concord water account holders are able to join.  Individuals and businesses not affiliated with an organization can sign up and will be added to a group already participating. Currently teams are earning funds for the Hugh Cargill Trust, Concord-Carlisle Community Chest, the Scout House, Concord Family Network, and the Alcott School “Green Monsters.”  People can also form their own “team” with friends and neighbors and donate their earnings to a local charity.

All you have to do is fill out a “Team Member Application” found at The more team members a group has, the more money it can potentially earn.  Last year, groups earned hundreds of dollars, thanks to the water-saving practices of team members.
