Selectmen Seek Feedback on Possible Sunday Town Meeting Session
.Each year in July, the Board of Selectmen sets the Annual Town Meeting schedule for the following April. The Town Meeting Study Committee several years ago suggested that the Selectmen consider holding a session of Town Meeting on a weekend day to encourage voters who have difficulty staying out on weeknights to participate more fully in Town government.~ The Selectmen are considering scheduling the first session of the 2014 Annual Town Meeting on Sunday, May 4 beginning at 2:00 p.m.~ The goal would be to have the session end around 6:00 p.m.~ Town Meeting would convene again on Monday, then Tuesday and Wednesday if necessary.~ The Selectmen will be discussing this matter at the July 8 meeting of the Board, and welcomes feedback from residents on this topic. The Board is considering doing this on an experimental or “pilot” basis, with a goal of broadening opportunities for Concord residents to participate in the governance of their community.~ Please share your thoughts with the Selectmen by contacting Selectmen’s Administrative Assistant Ruth Lauer, Concord Town House, 22 Monument Square, Concord, MA 01742~or by emailing Ruth at
