Solar Open House This Saturday June 15
The Town of Concord Comprehensive Sustainable Energy Committee invites you to see solar power in action at two homes in town this Saturday, June 15th. From 10am to 1pm, the Solar Open House will be held at the home of Brian and Pamela Foulds, 33 Riverdale Road. From 2pm to 5pm you can visit the home of Maurice and Susan Ryan at 242 Elsinore Street. The homeowners, and representatives from Astrum Solar, our installer partner for the Concord Solar Challenge, will be on hand to provide information and answer your questions.
The Solar Challenge continues to move along well. To date, over 250 homeowners, nonprofits and local businesses have requested site evaluations, 150 sites have been “qualified” for solar, and 20 homeowners have already signed up for systems. Installation prices for everyone have already decreased because of program success thus far and will continue to go down as more people participate.
There has never been a better time to go solar. Significantly reduced solar panel prices and generous state and federal tax credits and incentives for both homeowners and businesses reduce the upfront cost of a system and enable solar owners to make back their investment in an average of 4 to 6 years, with positive cash flow for 20 years after that. And solar owners can feel good that they are doing their part to support clean energy and reduce carbon dioxide emissions.
If you have a south-facing roof with a good amount of sun, your site may be a good candidate for solar. The Solar Challenge runs until July 31st. Sign up for a site evaluation at http://go.astrumsolar.com/concord and you're in! And if you have any questions, please contact Jill Appel, Concord Solar Coach, at 978-371-7270 or firstname.lastname@example.org. We hope to see you Saturday!
