Allergy Awareness Requirements have been added to 105 CMR 590.000(adopted 6/9/10). The effect dates for complaince shall be no later than:

October 2010

1. A poster shall be prominently placed in employee work areas regarding (a) major food allergens (b) health risk of food allergies (c) procedures to follow if a customer states that they have a food allergy and (d) emergency procedures to follow if a customer has an allergic reaction. Posters are available for download English Version or Spanish Version

2. Notice shall be placed on menues and menu boards which reads " Before placing your order, please inform your server if a person in your party has a food allergy" (language must not be altered)

To help with the training component of the new law, FAAN has updated its Welcoming Guests with Food Allergies guide. An accompanying video has also been updated, and will soon be available online.

3. Food Allergy Awareness Training by the Certified Food Protection Manager. A certification shall be posted on site and will be valid for 5 years. The following vendors are approved for online training:
