Recreational Swimming Pools
The Concord Health Department licenses and inspections all public and semi-public swimming
If you plan to operate a Swimming Pool in 2013, please take a moment and download the Self-Certification Form. Completed forms should be submitted to the Health Department no later than May 1, 2013. Please note that your annual permit renewal form will be mailed to you, but it should be returned at the same time as the Self-Certification Form.
Please be advised that you are required to schedule an appointment with our office to review your facility prior to opening. Pre-operational pool inspections are scheduled for the week of Monday May 13 -Thursday May 30, if you intend on opening for the Memorail Day Weekend.
It is important that you have your pool ready for these inspections. If your pool is not in full compliance at the time of your inspection, your permit will not be issued.
Bathing Beaches
If water testing results indicate a bacterial count that exceeds allowable limits, the Concord Board of Health will post a warning sign that reads "Swimming May Cause Illness." Subsequent testing will be performed until the bacterial count has returned to "within normal limits". All warning postings will be removed at that time.
Walden Pond is a state run facility and is inspected by The Department of Conservation and Recreation/DCR. The hot line number for state beach water quality is 617-626-4972. The recording is updated daily.
