DOR Gives Preliminary Certification
Fiscal Year 2008 is a certification year for Concord.  Values must be certified by the Department of Revenue (DOR) in order for the tax rate to be set.
As of Monday, January 14, 2008, the DOR gave Concord preliminary certification of the proposed FY08 values.  This will enable the town to go through the final steps to set the tax rate and issue actual fourth quarter tax bills.  These steps include a public disclosure period, a Board of Selectmen classification hearing where the tax rate is set, and submission of final, signed forms to the DOR.

From today, Thursday, January 17, through Thursday, January 24, 2008, is the public disclosure period during which these preliminary values are available for public review.  Listings can be found at the Town House, both libraries, and the Harvey Wheeler Center.  The preliminary FY08 values in most cases are exactly the same as those sent in the notices to all residents last October.  Any valuation changes since that time have usually been at the request of the property owner.  You may contact the Assessors Office if you want a new property record card.  If you missed the first period where you could discuss data corrections on your property, this is a second chance to submit your corrections.

Assessors office hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.  Phone number: (978) 318-3070, email: assessing@concordma.gov.
