Committees

The Board heard regular reports from a number of ad hoc and standing committees as well as from Town departments, and made or approved appointments to those committees. Following consultation with interested citizens and implementing recommendations of the 2005 Comprehensive Long Range Plan, the Board appointed and charged the Concord Economic Council, which will serve as a voice for the business community in Town affairs. The Board appointed members to a new Agriculture Committee, and revised the charge for the Bruce Freeman Rail Trail Advisory Committee, appointing two additional members. Following approval by Town Meeting of design funds for a new Willard School, the Board appointed and charged the Willard School Building Committee, and also appointed a task force to advise on the sale of a parcel of land held by the School Committee on Strawberry Hill Road in order to finance the purchase of farmland on Old Bedford Road. In addition, following approval by the legislature of a new Concord Housing Development Corporation and in consultation with all organizations concerned with provision of affordable housing in Town, the Board appointed current members of the Affordable Housing Committee to the new chdc and will shortly be dissolving the Affordable Housing Committee. The Board acknowledges the Town's debt to the many hard-working volunteers and talented staff who provide invaluable service to the Town.
