2229 Main Street Oversight Committee
Tuesday, December 10, 2013, Meeting Agenda
7:30 pm meeting begins
Review old minutes.
7:40 pm Public Hearing- 2014 Town Meeting Articles
The Committee expects that the EPA will make a decision about the final remediation strategy for the 2229 Main Street site during 2014. The Town may want to allocate resources this year to review this process and to pay for specialists to look into the Town’s options; particularly the option of taking ownership of the property. The Committee would like to bring everyone to the table to discuss these ideas, so we want to discuss whether Town meeting is an opportunity to do that and if so, what is the best way for the Committee and/or the Town to bring the Starmet issue to Town meeting. There is a January 6th deadline for submitting motions to the 2014 Town Meeting warrant. In our December meeting we hope to engage the community to discuss this:
• Review the current Concord budget items that might relate to the 2229 Site and discuss whether funding is adequate and whether the Committee should support these budget items, and if so what Committee actions would be required.
• Discuss the option of developing a Committee sponsored Town meeting article, and if so determining who will write it and what the timetable will be for submitting it to the Town meeting, and for supporting it during the Town Meeting process.
• Review and discuss potential Town meeting articles from citizens or advocacy groups and what the preliminary Committee position is on these articles.
Adjourn meeting by 9:30pm
