"I care for my husband with dementia. I felt so alone, losing my patience and feeling I was losing my mind. I found this group and I found support, ideas on how to manage some problems, services in the area, and most of all I found I was not alone."
This is one story and one step to finding support for yourself and the one you love. Our Caregivers' Support Group is for those caring for loved ones with Alzheimer's or related dementias. Caring for someone with a memory disorder can be very challenging, and sharing your experiences with others often helps caregivers cope with difficulties and celebrate successes. The group is facilitated by Council on Aging Social Services Coordinator, Sally Lopez and Cooperative Elder Services Social Worker, Eileen Lawson.. This group meets the third Tuesday of each month at 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM.
BEREAVEMENT AND LOSS
The loss of a spouse or partner can be a very painful experience. It is a journey which can be frightening, overwhelming and sometimes lonely. Many have found that being able to share their fears, concerns, and even practicalities of the grieving process can be helpful. We offer a Support Group for those who have lost a spouse or partner, facilitated by COA Social Services Coordinator, Sally Lopez. The group will not meet in November due to the Veteran's Day holiday. They will resume the following month, meeting on Tuesday, December 9th at 10:00 AM. We will discuss "Coping with the Holidays" during the December group meeting. All are welcome. Please call Sally Lopez at 978-318-3012 for more information.
