What is the Concord Friends of the Aging?
Concord Friends of the Aging (the Friends) is a private non-profit corporation that was created for the purpose of fostering a closer relationship between the Concord Council on Aging (COA) and the community it serves. The Friends strive to stimulate public awareness of the needs of older citizens in Concord and to sponsor and support human service, cultural, educational, social and health programs delivered by the Council on Aging.
The Friends engage in fund raising for the support of COA programs. They conduct a yearly appeal but accept donations year round. Donations may be made in honor of a living friend or loved one for a special occasion such as a birthday or in memory of a deceased loved one. The Friends also encourage individual bequests. All donations may be sent to the Concord Friends of the Aging, 1276 Main Street, Concord, MA 01742.
The Board of the Concord Friends of the Aging works closely with the Council on Aging Administrator and the COA staff to ensure that the over 60 year old citizens of Concord, to the greatest extent possible, maintain their dignity, personal independence and their role as full participants in the life of the community. The Friends work side by side with the COA to provide senior citizens with opportunities that enhance their physical, emotional, intellectual and spiritual well-being.
