Construction & Demolition debris is not collected at the curb. In Massachusetts, Construction & Demolition materials such as wood, metal, asphalt, clean gypsum wallboard, brick and concrete are banned from disposal at landfills. Additional C&D materials, such as asphalt shingles, carpeting and ceiling tiles, are currently under consideration for classification as waste ban materials.
There are many recycling opportunities for C&D materials. Asphalt shingles can be recycled into hot-mix asphalt for paving. Drywall can be utilized for the manufacture of cement or gypsum wallboard. Wood can be re-milled or recycled into particle board, mulch, furniture, and other wood products. Concrete can be recycled into pavement aggregate, cinder blocks, etc. There are many markets for today’s C&D materials.
Concord residents can bring Construction & Demolition materials to the semi-annual DropOff events for recycling. And below is a list of sites that accept C&D materials for recycling. Some of these provide C&D containers / pickup as well:

There are also re-use opportunities for many building products, including doors, windows, fixtures, lumber, siding, insulation, etc. Reusable building materials (some restrictions) are accepted at Concord’s semi-annual DropOff days.
