Approved Minutes, October 2, 2008
The Finance Committee Guidelines Subcommittee met Thursday evening October 2, 2008, in the Board of Selectmen's Room at the Town House, Concord, Massachusetts. Notice of the meeting was duly filed with the Town Clerk, Town of Concord, Massachusetts.
Members present: Thomas Anzer, Jill Appel, Susan Bates, Charles Blair, Walter Birge, Mark Howell, David Kramer, John LaMothe, Michael Lawson, Judith Quanrud, Lynn Salinger, Carol Wilson, Bruce Button .
Also present: Tony Logalbo, Finance Director; Virginia McIntyre, Selectman; Janet Rothrock, Recorder; Chris Whelan, Town Manager; Brad Kane, Boston Globe reporter.
Chairman Mark Howell called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m.
Chairman's Remarks:
Chairman Howell reviewed the schedule of upcoming Guidelines Subcommittee meetings.
Town Manager Christopher Whelan response to Budget Data Request letter of August 8th:
Mr. Whelan addressed the questions posed by the Guidelines Subcommittee regarding current programs, new programs, possible budget needs and the Town's capital spending plan. Mr.Whelan shared his report of possible FY2010 spending needs with the committee. His preliminary funding priorities total $799,000. Mr. Whelan also identified additional spending proposals received but not included in this estimate at this time.
Finance Director review of revenue/resource projections for FY 09 and FY 10:
Mr. Logalbo passed out a memo detailing FY2008 property tax collections, specifically delinquent taxes and noted that tax collections for FY2008 remained strong.
Other Business: There was no other business. The meeting was adjourned at 8:45 p.m.
